Ridge View Elementary School

Belgrade, Montana

Project Description

As a step in accommodating the growing number of elementary school aged students in Belgrade, Montana, an addition and renovations for the existing Ridge View Elementary School was funded in 2016. Prior to this addition, the school was so tight on space that reading groups were being held in former closets. The music program was being partially taught in the cafeteria and from a cart that traveled to various classrooms. The new addition added 9,000 sq ft of space. It includes 5 classrooms, a computer lab, small group rooms, and a mechanical/storage area.   The structure for the addition was primarily comprised of conventional wood framing supporting a wood I-joist roof system.  Also included was a cold-formed framed mechanical mezzanine.  The foundations are conventional concrete frost walls and footings, with a slab on grade forming the main level floor.
