HELIX Medical Office Building

The HELIX Building (Healthcare, Educators, Leaders & Innovators Complex) is part of the University of Utah Health medical campus. Opened in 2023, the LEED Silver certified building serves as the home for many of the School of Medicine’s departments. It includes office and collaboration space for 1,200 full time employees and 400 medical students. The building is 5 stories tall and serves as a gateway building connecting the University campus to the TRAX Transit Node and a 5-story parking garage. A 430-foot pedestrian skybridge high over Mario Capecchi Drive connects HELIX to the hospital campus. AE Dynamics designed many facets of the façade panel systems for this project, including ACM Panels, Terracotta Rainscreen Cladding, Battens, and Aluminum Fins.  Design challenges included the seamless integration of numerous façade systems as well as design for significant seismic lateral drift requirements associated with the primary building structure.
