Project Description
The Hood Museum of Art dates back to 1772, with this building opening in 1985. Recently renovated, the showcase of the project was a custom glass “Vitrine” unit. Overall, the vitrine measured just under 15 feet x 15 feet, and the largest portion of the vision area was almost 15 feet wide by 10 feet tall. The glass was 2” overall consisting of 3/8” and ¼” glass and because of the overall size, was quite heavy. The design was based on a traditional curtain wall system, but the members were heavily modified to accommodate the glass weight.
