Project Description
The Livingston Grain Elevator is a vital part of the cultural history of Livingston, Montana. The building is over 70 feet high and was built over 110 years ago. The grain elevator had fallen into disrepair, and was about to be demolished. A group of concerned citizens formed The Teslow Group, and focused on buying and preserving the structure for future generations.
Phase I of the restoration project was to stabilize the existing structure. AE Dynamics provided structural consulting and engineering services. This included reconstruction of the head house roof and associated structural repairs deemed necessary for roof reconstruction. Due to the instability of the grain elevator building and the unique layout of the property, the roof was constructed on the ground next to the building. In February 2017, the roof was lifted onto the top of the head house utilizing a special rigging system designed by AE Dynamics.
